Our Board of Directors brings broad experience in advising
and supervising the activities of the organization.

Deng Elijah , Board Chair

Deng Elijah is the Chairman of the Board of I Stretch My Hand. Deng studied BSc at the University of British Columbia. He is the Founder and CEO of Nyamilepedia an online news media outlet. Deng currently works with the Government of British Columbia under the Ministry of Attorney General. He previously worked at Intact Info as a Web Content Developer. As the Chairman, he ensures accountability and management of officers and work with external entities and create relationships with organization stakeholders.

Tut Puot, Board Member

Tut currently works with the government of Northwest Territory as a Community Social Services with Child and Family Services in Behchoko, NT. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Social work (BSW & MSW) from the University of Calgary and a certified Registered Social Worker (RSW). His primary focus is on advocacy for marginalized populations. Tut plans to use his educational training and work experience to contribute positively to I Stretch My Hand. He is currently  serving the Board as a Community Liaison where he leads and facilitates initiatives to involve the Naath community. 

Rebecca

Rebecca Andrew, Board Member

Rebecca currently works with the Canadian Labour Congress on the Out-of-Status Construction worker’s project. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration – BBA from Lille University, France, and a Master of International Law – LLM from Kent University, UK.  She has nine years of experience working with the Government of South Sudan in the diplomatic mission in Brussels. She also worked with different organizations in Canada, including Ottawa Community Immigrant Services, Learn2lang Institute, and Ottawa Carleton District School Board.  Rebecca volunteers with many non-governmental and community organizations. She dedicates some of her time to empowering young girls through education. Currently, she is the Head of Fundraising at I Stretch My Hand, improving the organization’s financial position.

Gattuoch Kuon, Board Member

Gattuoch is the President of the organization and a Board Member serving as a Secretary where in his capacity,  he facilitates meetings and writing of board minutes. In 2013,  due to his exceptional performance in primary school, Gattuoch earned a four-year high school scholarship from UNHCR in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. In 2017, after another excellent performance in high school, Gattuoch was awarded the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) scholarship to study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  Gattuoch holds a Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science and currently works as a Software Engineer at Humana. 

Gatjang Deng, Board Member

Gatjang is dedicated to transforming communities through education and capacity building, one life at a time. Recognizing the untapped talents of children in refugee camps and their long-term impact on their communities, Gatjang joined I Stretch My Hand to ensure bright refugee students have access to quality education. Alongside his role as an information security professional, he holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Mathematics and Physics and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. Currently, Gatjang serves as Head of Academics overseeing the organization’s academic affairs.
