Nyawal Lojock, Board Member

Nyawal Lojock is a Board Member of I Stretch My Hand – Canada. Nyawal was awarded the Student Refugee Program (SRP) scholarship by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) that allowed her to move to Canada in 2013. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology at the University of Manitoba.

Stephen Yang, Board Member

Stephen Yang is a Board Member of I Stretch My Hand – Canada. Stephen holds a bachelor’s in political science at the University of Calgary. He serves as Assistant Director of the Republic of South Sudan to Canada.

Chuol Solomon, Board Member

Chuol Solomon is a Board Member of I Stretch My Hand Canada. Chuol holds a diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology from SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, Alberta, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. In 2012, He obtained his Certified Engineering Technologist designation from ASET (Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professional of Alberta) and has Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) designation membership with PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario). Chuol had held various technologist/technician roles with companies such Shell Canada, Ingenia Polymers and Abbott in Chemical laboratory, research, manufacturing and production settings.

Gattuoch Kuon, Board Member

Gattuoch is a Board Member of  I Stretch My Hand – Canada. He is currently studying Computer Science and Psychology at McGill University. Gattuoch worked at BMO Financial Group and Nordstrom as Software Engineering Intern in 2021. He was among the few students in North America selected by Google to participate in the Google Software Product Sprint program in 2020. Due to his exceptional performance in primary school in 2013, Gattuoch earned a four-year high school scholarship from UNHCR in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. After another excellent performance in high school, Gattuoch was awarded the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) scholarship to study at McGill University in 2017.

Nhial Thok, Board Member

Nhial is a Board Member of I Stretch My Hand Kenya and a current student at Turkana University College, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science.  Nhial is an environmental activist as well as a member of the Environmental Science Club. He was among the students selected by the Department of Environmental Science, School of Science and Technology to participate and represent students’ organization to increase awareness and community involvement of its members in a positive and engaging social setting.  Nhial earned a four-year scholarship from Windle International Kenya under UNHCR to pursue post-secondary education. Nhial is a team player, punctual, well-spoken on community issues, and an excellent communicator.

Deng Elijah , Board Member

Deng Elijah is a Board Member of I Stretch My Hand – Canada. Deng studied BSc at the University of British Columbia. He is the Founder and CEO of Nyamilepedia an online news media outlet. Deng currently works with the Government of British Columbia under the Ministry of Attorney General. He previously worked at Intact Info as a Web Content Developer.

Lual Pal, Board Member

Lual Thorpal immigrated from Ethiopia to Canada 18 years ago. He attended the University of Calgary where he graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. He is currently working as CaseWorker at Alpha House, a non-profit organization in Calgary, Alberta.  He is the community Chairman in Calgary where he helps youth and families integrate seamlessly into Canadian society.  In addition, Lual is currently volunteering as Probation Officer with the Calgary East District. 

Tut Puot, Board Member

Tut currently works with the government of Northwest Territory as a Community Social Services with Child and Family Services in Behchoko, NT. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Social work (BSW & MSW) from the University of Calgary and a certified Registered Social Worker (RSW). His primary focus is on advocacy for marginalized populations. Tut plans to use his educational training and work experience to contribute positively to ISMH as a Board Member to achieve its objectives, mission and vision.
