The Naath Education Fund Initiative (NEFI) is a community-driven program dedicated to empowering Gaat Naath through education, with a vision of fostering a self-sufficient and prosperous community within the next 10 years. Recognizing the importance of education in empowering individuals and communities, NEFI seeks to bridge gaps in access to quality education and establish a sustainable framework for educational advancement in the Naath Community. Central to NEFI’s mission is instilling a sense of collective responsibility within the community, emphasizing how united efforts can shape a brighter future for generations to come.
Under NEFI, we have two programs:
1. Naath Community Family: Canada
Under the Naath Family initiative, we are focusing on key cities where the majority of our community members reside, including Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, the Greater Toronto Area (Kitchener, Mississauga, Hamilton), and Edmonton. Our goal is to encourage each family to contribute $20 annually to support the Naath Education Funds Initiative (NEFI).This program is led by our Community Liaison Officer, with the support of dedicated NEFI Ambassadors who will engage with community members and facilitate the collection of contributions.
2. Naath Community Associations: Kenya
Under the Naath Community Association, we aim to engage the leadership of well-organized associations in Kenya to pledge a fixed annual contribution in support of NEFI. Currently, any association wishing to host a community event in Kakuma Refugee Camp is required to pay a registration fee of 5,000 KES to the Naath Community. We see an opportunity to leverage this existing practice and extend it to raise sustainable support for NEFI, as it already functions effectively within the community. This program is led by the Country Director in Kenya, and supported by a dedicated NEFI Committee, all of whom have extensive experience in handling community matters.
